New Spa Policy - Babies Welcome...

It used to be that spas shunned children, believing that relaxation and the sound of a squalling infant in the cabana next door were pretty much mutually exclusive. But these days, a handful of spas are going to great lengths to become baby- and new-mother friendly, adding amenities like expensive strollers and organic baby shampoos, as well as services ranging from postnatal massages to child care.

Most spa managers think the trend has to do with the rising ages of new parents. The National Center for Health Statistics, a part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that the number of births to women in their early 40s nearly doubled between 1990 and 2002, jumping from 48,607 to 95,788. Older parents tend to be further along in their careers, which means they have more money to spend on luxury retreats, and tend to look at vacations as a time to bond with their infants.

Brooks Health to open fitness center
Facility would be the largest of its size and scope in Duval, Florida

Beautiful Forever client, Jacksonville-based Brooks Health System is slated to break ground in two weeks on a 60,447-square-foot medical fitness center in Deerwood Park.  Brooks' fitness center, expected to open next spring, would be the largest of its size and scope in Duval County.
The two-story facility will incorporate a full-service gymnasium, day spa, lifestyle classes, cafe and outpatient rehabilitation clinic in one location. The spa, classes and cafe will be open to the public, but an annual membership will be required to access the gym. The center will be open seven days a week.

Unlike at other membership-based gyms, the programs at Brooks' center will be approved by a panel of doctors, and staff will be medically trained. The fitness area will offer cardiovascular and strength-training equipment; three group exercise studios; an indoor aquatic center, including a warm water therapy pool; basketball and volleyball courts; and men's and women's locker rooms with lounges and saunas. Spa services will include massage, facials, body wraps and hydrotherapy. Class topics will range from weight loss and disease management.

Eat Right To Keep Healthy Skin

Clinical nutritionist says all the skin-care and beauty products in the world won't keep your skin looking good if you're not eating the right foods.  New York, NY -- Lots of people spend hundreds of dollars on all the "latest, greatest" skin-care products. You may even have been tempted to pick up a product that promises to keep your skin looking vibrant and young, wiping away wrinkles overnight.  But, says Health magazine contributor and clinical nutritionist Samantha Heller, all the skin-care and beauty products in the world won't keep your skin looking good if you're not eating the right foods.  Clinical studies have found that eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and omega-3 fatty acids can help skin retain its healthy glow and look youthful.
